About the Workshop

NC State University is organizing a regional workshop in quantum computing for graduate students and researchers in the Southeast US. Hosted by the NC State Quantum Initiative, this event will take place over the weekend of October 9–11, 2026. It provides a unique opportunity for students and researchers to expand their understanding of quantum computing while networking with regional colleagues.

2026 Theme: Quantum Error Correction & Mitigation

This year’s theme focuses on Quantum Error Correction and Mitigation, addressing one of the most critical challenges in the field: handling noise and operational errors during quantum tasks.

Program Highlights:

• Tutorials: Deep dives into foundational and emerging concepts.
• Invited Talks: Presentations highlighting rapid developments in QEC & M.
• Poster Session: Opportunities for attendees to present ongoing research.
• Discussion Sessions: Open forums to engage on general topics across quantum computing.

Note: While the workshop is open to everyone, a background including courses in Linear Algebra and Probability will be helpful.

This quantum workshop is part of an ongoing annual series aimed at growing our community’s expertise across many areas of quantum computing. We are excited to bring this popular event back to NC State this fall!
